View Article  Playoff Predictions

Here are my 2007 predictions for the playoffs.

 VS

Cubs will come out playing very exciting baseball and will roll all over the Dbacks.  Zambrano will pitch better than Webb and the Cubbies will clinch this series in game 4 @ Wrigley.

VS

This is one of the most exciting playoff matchups in recent history.  As much as I hate to see the Mets not there, the Phils and Rocks are both red hot and have a ton of offense.  The Phils will ultimately outslug the Rocks and cool them down.  This series will go to 5 games, with the past MVP, current MVP, and future MVP coming through for the Phils in a nice win.

 VS

As much as I'm scared to death of the Skanks, I have a feeling that Cleveland will come out on top.  The Yanks won all 6 against the Indians this year, but they didn't face C.C. Sabathia.  The combo of Sabathia and Carmona will make the Indians really dangerous and will shut down the Yanks powerful offense.  Hafner comes alive late off Joba the hut and the Indians win an exciting game 5.

 VS

I'm obviously bias here, but I really believe the Sox are still the best team in baseball.  Beckett will beat Lackey in game 1 and the Sox will win this series in 4 games, splitting the 2 difficult games on the road.

VS

The Cubs for the first time in seemingly forever win the NL Pennant.  The Cubs offense is good enough to play with the Phils and ultimately Zambrano will come up huge in the end.  Cubs depress the city of Philadelphia with a game 6 victory on the road to advance to the World Series.

 VS

The Sox have to deal with a extremely tough Indian rotation with Carmona and Sabathia each getting a win in the series.  But, the Sox offense is too much for the Indians and they win a few close games in the end.  Sox win this series in a dramatic game 7, to advance once again to the World Series.

VS

In the ultimate baseball dream matchup, the Cubs go for their first title in 99 years.  But the Sox ironically stop the cursed Cubbies and win in 6 games.  The Sox have too much pitching and hitting to counter the attack by the Cubbies.  Sox win their first title since 2004, as David Ortiz is named MVP after an excellent series.

Hopefully this all comes true, but it's unlikely.  In fact, I probably just cursed everyone I picked.  Since the Mets aren't in it, I have to root for a different NL team, and thats the loveable Cubbies.  I hope they win the Pennant and face the Sox, but I really feel the Sox are just that much better.  They are built to win it all and I'm confident they'll get it done.  Lets Go Red Sox!

View Article  Mets: The Team, The Time, The Collapse

There are little words to describe this awful collapse of the 2007 New York Mets.  The bottom line is ultimately they showed little heart in the end and came up short...1 damn game short.  It was the biggest collapse of all time and the entire Met organization should be embarassed, because I sure am.  I blame it on EVERYONE.  Omar made some terrible decisions and had way too much confidence in many mediocre players.  Willie was way too stoic and didn't motivate his players enough.  He can however still "sip some champagne," because the Mets are bringing him back.  I don't disagree with the decision but he should have a short leash.  Many of the players were awful and many have to go.  I'm not sure we'll ever see Delgado who struggled all year back.  The 2B situation is an interesting one.  There are rumors of Reyes and more for Santana.  I don't necessarily agree with that move, because I still have a warm place in my heart for Reyes and I love his excitement.  Plus, Santana only has ONE YEAR left on his current contract.  You better make sure you can resign him if you want him.  Twins should do it in a heartbeat.  Green will be gone and hopefully Alou will be back.  We've probably seen the last of Lo Duca and who knows who the Mets catcher will be in 08.  We will probably never see Glavine again, who picked his worst start of his career to be in his most important one as a Met.  The bullpen needs to be dismantled.  Keep Wagner and Feliciano maybe, unless you can get something for them.  Try to trade Heilman as well.  Do everything you can to get rid of steroid bums Mota and Schoenweiss, and after that try to find some help somewhere.  Mets have a ton to think about this offseason and they better get it together.  They disappointed a ton of met fans out there in what was suppossed to be a "world series or bust" season.  Well, this is a lot worse than a BUST.  Should be a very interesting offseason and an interesting 2008.
